Last year marked the 100th anniversary of the publication of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, a classic of American Literature that many think deepens in significance with repeated readings. A memorable literary and cultural reflection on The Twenties, it expresses a complex  theme of longing and loss that resonates today. The green light at the edge of Daisy’s dock goes out as we move through the world, sadder, not always wiser, but it can still pulse occasionally, an ambiguous memory of what was or might have been in our own lives and in the life of our country.
